Introduction
Women
and children take a
centre stage in the work of YONECO considering their vulnerability to
the many
ills of society. The group therefore needs attention and should be
engaged in
development activities at community and national level in order to
create a unique
vibrant socio economic base for Malawi. The
programs are
deliberately designed to meet of an ever changing social environment.
The
programs help to empower women and children to live health and
participate in
all social economic development activities.

Strategies
Among
other strategies that
will be put in place to realize the mission are:
- Life
skills education
for women and
children (sex
workers, teen mothers, adolescent girls, widows and female divorcees).
- Women
and children
empowerment on
issues of
human rights, responsibilities and democratic values in the context of
HIV/AIDS
related matters.
- Sensitization
and
mobilization
campaigns to enhance
community support systems to promote of women and children’s
rights

Activities
- Conduct
training in life skills, counseling, peer
education, theatre for development, conflict
management, participatory learning
techniques etc for
women and children.
- Peer
education for sex workers and teen mothers at
community level.
- Conduct
vocational skill training for teen mothers,
adolescent girls, widows, sex workers and divorcees and other
vulnerable groups.
- Facilitate
bar to bar outreach programs through sex
workers.
- Conduct
functional literacy classes for women and
children.
- Conduct
comprehensive health education on
sanitation, nutrition and water management
